Genacys

Genacys, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Whyte Group, is an investor in technology. We garner research ideas and entrepreneurial spirit and through collaborations, strategic partnerships and joint ventures turn early-stage technologies into separate successful corporate entities.

We enable embryonic technologies to become profitable companies through the provision of financial investment, intellectual property guidance and commercial expertise in addition to legal and accounting support.

We also conduct and provide technology evaluation, due diligence, intellectual property appraisals, licensing facilitation, technology brokerage, customer introductions and start-up expertise.

One of Genacys’s flagship technologies is Scionix Limited. Scionix is a joint venture between Genacys and the University of Leicester, the company was set-up in 1999 to commercialise the industrial use of a novel class of solvent systems known as ionic liquids and Genacys has been fundamental in patenting the technology and commercialising the excellent research carried out at the University of Leicester.

These highly polar solvents are, in effect, room temperature salt melts which do not exhibit a vapour pressure. They solubilise compounds and salts which normally would only dissolve in highly corrosive or caustic aqueous solutions. These revolutionary solvents are not only inexpensive to produce and store - but they are also unreactive to air and moisture.

These solvents are used in many different applications including
metal polishing, metal plating, catalyst recycling, cleaning applications and synthesis.
